  Performances for Seniors

After performing professionally at restaurants, country clubs, and exclusive seaside resorts in locations such as New York state’s "Hamptons," Todd discovered yet another enthusiastic audience for his work. On his first visit to see his mother after she moved to an assisted living facility in the northeast several years ago, Todd sat down at the piano in the lobby and played some tunes at her request. As he did so, residents began to gather and request songs that were first popular in the 1930’s, 40’s, and 50’s. Soon there was a large crowd singing, even dancing, and applauding enthusiastically. Several said they felt he was the best performer they’d had because he clearly knew and loved their favorite music so well.

Upon returning home to Colorado, Todd decided made a point of playing for seniors as often as he could. And he has continued to receive the very warm reception he experienced at his mother’s place of residence in New York. He provides performances for seniors in a wide range of venues and, on occasion, volunteers his time in settings where budgets do not permit remuneration.

At senior-oriented communities and events, Todd excels at engaging his audience—taking requests from residents, their relatives, and the staff alike. He has played at local senior centers, at retirement communities for independent and assisted-living residents, and for people in special memory care and hospice. He currently performs at a variety of senior facilities, including Sunrise, Brookdale (Sterling House), Horizon Bay (Meridian), Columbine Health, Balfour, and Frasier Meadows, among others.

Additional background: Todd has worked as a music therapist at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and at residences for adults with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses.
